  • Faring is advancing its proposed office and retail development at 9160-9176 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, replacing a former automotive dealership with a five-story commercial building.
  • The project will span approximately 52,999 square feet, including office, restaurant and retail space, with 86 underground parking spaces and additional bicycle parking.
  • Gensler is designing the building, which will feature terraced decks and two full-motion digital signs integrated into the facade. The project remains subject to city approvals.

What Faring Is Planning

Faring is moving forward with plans for a new commercial building on the Sunset Strip after several years of revisions. The project would replace the former Hornburg Los Angeles automotive dealership on a roughly 0.43-acre site between Carol Drive and Cory Avenue. The latest proposal calls for office space on the upper four floors, with commercial, restaurant and office uses on the ground floor. The development would rise approximately 90 feet across five stories.

What The New Building Will Offer

The design by Gensler uses setbacks and terraced decks to reduce the building's scale toward the residential neighborhood south of Sunset Boulevard. Offset floor plates will create outdoor spaces for office tenants. The project also includes a three-level subterranean garage with 86 vehicle spaces, plus bicycle parking. The current environmental documents also call for two full-motion animated sign faces integrated into the northwest and northeast portions of the facade.

What The Digital Signage Means

Digital advertising is a major component of the latest design. Earlier versions of the proposal contemplated a larger LED media system, but the current plan has been revised to two integrated full-motion displays. The signage is being reviewed through West Hollywood's Sunset Arts and Advertising Program, adding another commercial element to a corridor already known for prominent outdoor advertising.

What Comes Next For 9160 Sunset

The project remains in the planning entitlement stage. A recirculated environmental impact report was released in 2026, and the West Hollywood Planning Commission is reviewing the development before construction can begin. An environmental study previously estimated roughly 19 months of construction once approvals are secured. For Sunset Strip landlords and investors, the project represents another effort to add modern office inventory to one of Los Angeles County's most recognizable commercial corridors.
