Faena Plants a 27-Foot Mirrored Sphere on Its Miami Beach Sand for Art Week

A Giant Disco Ball Anchors Faena's Art Week Program

Faena is using Miami Art Week to put its Mid-Beach district front and center. Faena Art will install A Lore Supreme, a mirrored sphere by artist Christopher Joshua Benton, directly on Faena Beach from December 1 through December 6.

The piece stands roughly 27 feet tall and 44 feet across, wrapped in more than 7,000 reflective facets. It reads as a supersized disco ball, but Benton designed it around the cultural currents that shaped Miami, drawing on the city's ties to Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America.

The installation is free and open to the public daily from noon to 9 p.m. An accompanying program, Island Funk House, fills the week with wellness sessions, music, sound-documentary screenings and live performances.

Why the Beachfront Matters to the Faena District

Faena built its brand on blurring the line between hospitality, residences and culture, and this program extends that playbook onto the sand. The district stretches along Collins Avenue in Mid-Beach, anchored by the Faena Hotel Miami Beach in the restored former Saxony, the Faena House condominium, and the Faena Forum cultural center.

That positioning carries real weight in the residential market. Faena House has long ranked among Miami Beach's priciest addresses, with a penthouse once listed at $50 million, and developers are now paying to put the Faena name on new product, including a two-tower, 60-story branded project on the Miami River. The brand also operates under Accor's luxury portfolio.

Art Week programming that draws crowds to the beach, rather than across the causeway to the convention center, puts the district in front of exactly the global, high-net-worth audience that buys branded residences.

Major Lazer Takes the Stage December 2

The week's ticketed centerpiece is a Major Lazer concert on Wednesday, December 2, running from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., with an opening DJ set from Richie Hell. Tickets go on sale October 27 through the official event program.

Chase is layering in perks for its premium cardholders. Eligible Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business and J.P. Morgan cardmembers can register for a private VIP area, priority entry and a limited-edition gift. The December 2 lineup also includes a private sunset cocktail hour and seated dinner before the show, subject to registration and availability.

Visitors should note the concert is separate from the free daytime installation, with its own tickets and access rules.

A Second Installation Inside the Faena Cathedral

Faena Art's program runs indoors too. Italian artist Marinella Senatore will present An Expanded Baroque Crown, an illuminated, participatory installation inside the Faena Cathedral. Over the same December 1–6 window, it hosts readings, poetry, dance and music.
