Traded Editorial
- Reef Capital Partners is leading a major expansion of Cornerstone Club, a 4,800-acre private club community near Montrose, Colorado.
- The Matt Dusenberry and Greg Norman-designed golf course is being renovated, with work expected to finish in summer 2027.
- Plans include a new spa and thermal village, performance center, pool complex, eight overnight cabins and exclusive Telluride ski access.
What The Golf Renovation Will Include
Cornerstone Club is preparing for a significant upgrade to its golf and hospitality offerings as Reef Capital Partners moves the private mountain community into its next phase.
The centerpiece is a renovation of the club's championship golf course, with improvements planned for turfgrass, fairways, bunkers and cart paths. Two signature holes will also be redesigned, including a new short par-4 at No. 12 and a reworked par-5 finishing hole at No. 18.
Cornerstone's course sits on roughly 4,800 acres of protected mountain terrain and was originally designed by Greg Norman, with later work by Matt Dusenberry.
What The New Clubhouse Amenities Will Offer
The golf improvements will be accompanied by new gathering and recreation spaces.
A new bar and grill will overlook the 18th green and an expanded putting course, while the clubhouse campus will add a resort-style pool and hot tub, event lawn and new locker rooms.
The property already offers a broad mix of outdoor activities, including hiking, horseback riding, pickleball, tennis, fishing and biking, reinforcing its positioning as a four-season destination rather than a traditional golf-only community.
What The Wellness Expansion Will Add
Cornerstone is also upgrading its training facilities into a new performance center with indoor recreation and a fitness center equipped for more advanced training.
A new spa and thermal village will add indoor and outdoor thermal pools, private treatment cabins, relaxation cabanas, couples' experiences and a coffee and juice bar.
The expansion puts wellness alongside golf as one of the club's primary lifestyle offerings, giving members more reasons to use the property throughout the year.
What The New Accommodations Will Include
Cornerstone plans to add eight overnight cabins for members and guests.
The additional lodging is intended to support weekend golf trips and longer mountain stays while increasing the property's ability to accommodate visitors without leaving the community.
Cornerstone's current residential offering includes large Homestead lots, half-acre cabin lots and furnished turnkey cabins, with club membership reserved for property owners.
What The Telluride Partnership Adds
Beginning in winter 2026, Cornerstone real estate members are expected to receive exclusive access to Crest Club Telluride, a private alpine retreat at the Madeline Hotel & Residences, Auberge Resorts Collection.
The arrangement gives members a way to move between Cornerstone's summer and fall mountain activities and Telluride's winter ski season, extending the club's lifestyle offering beyond its Montrose-area property.
What Reef Capital Partners Is Bringing to Cornerstone
Reef Capital Partners is overseeing the next phase of Cornerstone's development and has partnered with CoralTree Hospitality on hospitality operations.
Reef describes Cornerstone as one of its flagship mountain real estate projects, with the property positioned between Montrose and Telluride on the Uncompahgre Plateau.
The club's public real estate release is anticipated in 2027, while the golf renovation is targeted for completion in summer 2027.
What Comes Next
The expansion is designed to turn Cornerstone into a more complete year-round mountain destination, combining golf, wellness, recreation, hospitality and residential living across its expansive Colorado setting.
For luxury real estate investors, the project reflects the growing appeal of private club communities that sell more than a home or golf membership. They are increasingly built around a full lifestyle, with wellness, outdoor recreation and hospitality becoming central to the value proposition.
