Historic Art Deco Hotel Gets a New Hospitality Concept

A historic Mid-Beach hotel is preparing for a new chapter as Bossa House Miami Beach, a Brazilian-inspired boutique property planned for January 2027. The project rebrands and renovates the former Circa 39 hotel at 3900 Collins Avenue, bringing a distinctive cultural concept to a landmark building. Originally built in 1939 as the Copley Plaza Hotel, the property was designed by architect Albert Anis and is part of the Collins Waterfront Architectural District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The reopening will also mark Florida’s first hotel under IHG’s Vignette Collection.

CL Hotels and IHG Bring Bossa House to Mid-Beach

The project is owned by João Woiler, Sharon Cohen Woiler, and Clemente Beda, with development handled by CL Hotels, founded by Woiler. CL Hotels acquired the 97-room Circa 39 in 2024, with plans for a multimillion-dollar renovation and rebranding tied to IHG’s Vignette Collection. Aimbridge Hospitality was initially announced as the hotel manager.  The new brand concept draws on saudade, a Brazilian expression of longing for a person, place, or experience with deep emotional meaning. Brazilian culture will influence the property’s design, music, cuisine, and guest experience.

Brazilian Dining, Pool and Wellness Amenities

Bossa House’s food and beverage program will center on Ginga Restaurant, an all-day dining concept pairing Brazilian and Mediterranean flavors, including churrasco and kebabs. The adjoining Ginga Caipi Bar will feature caipirinhas and shareable dishes. The hotel’s amenity program is planned to include a tropical outdoor pool, dedicated beach service, and a 2,000-square-foot Hidden Garden for relaxation and wellness activities. Guests will also have access to a 24-hour fitness room, six indoor and outdoor event spaces, and complimentary one-hour daily e-bike rentals. The rooms will incorporate Brazilian-inspired interiors and photographs of Rio de Janeiro captured by co-owner Clemente Beda, reinforcing the property’s cultural identity.

Investor Takeaway

Bossa House highlights the value of repositioning historic hospitality assets through renovation, branding, and a targeted guest experience. For hotel investors, CL Hotels’ strategy combines an established Mid-Beach location with IHG’s distribution platform and a differentiated boutique concept. The planned January 2027 opening will put the project into Miami Beach’s competitive hotel market as a distinct lifestyle offering.
