Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman is selling two adjacent apartments in the Beresford, a prestigious co-op at 211 Central Park West in New York City. The combined asking price for the two units, 8E and 8F, is $19.9 million. Alternatively, they can be purchased separately, with No. 8E listed for $8.4 million and No. 8F, featuring a more spacious layout and larger kitchen, priced at $11.5 million. The units, which Ackman bought in 2017 for $22.1 million, were never formally combined and may result in a 10% loss if sold at the asking prices.
Ackman, founder of Pershing Square Capital Management, purchased the Beresford apartments during a period of significant real estate activity. In 2006, he and his then-wife Karen Ackman bought a duplex in the same building for $26 million. Ownership was transferred to Karen following their divorce in 2018. Ackman remarried in 2019 to designer Neri Oxman. While he is divesting from the Beresford, Ackman’s portfolio includes other high-value properties, such as a six-bedroom duplex on Billionaires Row, purchased for $91.5 million in 2015 through a shell company.
Deborah Kern of Corcoran Group and Vivian Fisher of Sloane Square are named as the listing brokers.
