One of the properties affected is The Ambassador Hotel & Residences, which dates back to 1947 but underwent expansion in the 1960s. Similarly, a former co-operative building comprising 36 units stands on the lakefront. Recognizing the potential benefits of redevelopment, the board of The 2770 building, neighboring The Ambassador, expressed openness to a high-end condominium in place of the current hotel. However, the board strongly opposed the proposed text amendment, citing concerns over increased density, traffic, and rooftop decks.
