Susan Baker recently joined Sotheby’s International Realty and is partnering with Melinda Nix in her early days at the company. Susan received a BA in English literature from Wellesley College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. After a long career in investment banking working with Goldman Sachs & Co., Lehman Brothers, and First Boston, Susan retired from finance and turned her life experience to a long “second career” in active board service, primarily to the arts. She has taken a hands-on and humanistic yet rigorously strategic approach to the institutional challenges of the many cultural and community organizations she has served. Over the years, Susan has been chair of New York City Opera and MasterVoices and has served on the executive committees/boards of the Animal Medical Center, the School of American Ballet, the Spoleto Festival, the American Friends of Les Arts Florissants, Lincoln Center and BAM, among others.
