Matthew Fernandez grew up in Nolita, one of Manhattan's most storied and now most sought-after neighborhoods where his father, a Dominican immigrant who embodied the American Dream, built a small food business from the ground up in the late 1970s. Baptized at Old St. Patrick's Cathedral on Mulberry Street, Matthew's childhood was rooted in that neighborhood in every sense: its blocks, its character, its people, and the quiet but constant conversation his father carried about what a corner could mean for a business, what a street could become, what a space could unlock.
