Mario is responsible for business development and general management at EXR. He moved to New York City in 2006 as part of an Americorps program called City Year, where he worked with local Brooklyn communities to develop after-school programs, refurbish parks and playgrounds, and improve the local community. After a year at Americorps, Mario attended the State University of New York, majoring in Business Management and Economics.
During college, Mario spent nights in class while his days were focused on launching a hospitality startup. Within a few years, the group launched six restaurants and entered into management agreements from New York to London. After moving on from hospitality, he launched a venture focused on providing capital and management services to small businesses and startups.
Seeing young businesses encounter success and hardship as they grew provided Mario with an invaluable perspective on the challenges businesses face and what it takes to bring a company from one stage to the next.
