Doug Nicholson is senior managing director of the Houston Investment/Industrial Services Group at Newmark. A licensed real estate broker since 1974, he has been active in the commercial real estate business since 1979. Upon graduation from Rice University in Houston, Texas, Mr. Nicholson joined Shell Oil Corporation as purchasing agent for Houston and later Gretna, Louisiana. In 1972, he joined Nicholson Company, an industrial supplier of pumps, generators and compressors and served as president, with management and sales responsibilities, until going full-time into the real estate business in 1979 when he joined the local real estate brokerage firm of Boyd/DeBlanc & Brown Company. His specialization and success in the Northwest Houston industrial market led to his becoming a partner in the firm in 1985 where he was named vice president.
In 1988, Mr. Nicholson joined Grubb & Ellis, formerly Henry S. Miller/Grubb & Ellis, which is the one of the largest providers of commercial real estate marketing services in the country.
