Born in Moorestown, New Jersey, Burt graduated from Moorestown High School in 1972. In 1976 he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Fordham University. Following graduation, Burt worked in accounting and finance for Intercontinental Hotel's corporate office in New York City. In 1978 Burt was hired as General Manager of the Port-O-Call Hotel and moved to Ocean City as a year round resident. After obtaining his Real Estate Sales Associate license in 1988, Burt left the hotel industry and joined a large Ocean City real estate firm as Vice President and owner. Burt received his GRI designation and Real Estate Broker's license in 1990. In 1998 Burt opened Goldcoast Realty. Ten years later Goldcoast Realty became Goldcoast Sotheby's International Realty. Burt was President of the Ocean City Board of Realtors in 1997 and Realtor of the Year in 1999. He continues to be one of Ocean City's top producers with Circle of Excellence Awards every year since 1988 with recent annual sales between $15 and $30 million dollars.
