Machenta, a physical AI spinout from Imperial College London, has raised $40 million in a seed funding round led by Creandum and Union Square Ventures, marking the largest seed raise by a UK robotics startup. Co-founded by CEO and Imperial College London Professor Edward Johns, the company is developing a robot foundation model that enables robots to learn new tasks from a single demonstration, using simulated data rather than real-world training data. Machenta will use the funding to scale its technology and expand its team at its new office and lab in King’s Cross, London.
