If there were one man who epitomizes the saying “pull yourself up by your own bootstraps,” it’s
35-year-old Chicago native Perdure “Coach” Carter. In only five short years, this former
school teacher and football coach has transformed his real estate brokerage company Dream
Spots Leasing from a one-office organization employing six people into three locations with 42
employees currently serving the Chicago area.
“I used to work for a company that concentrated on the more affluent neighborhoods on the
North side, explains Carter. And I wanted to bring that same quality of service to urban
Chicago. The black community didn’t have that type of service so I decided to do something
about it.”
A star linebacker at Chicago Vocational High School, he played collegiate football at North Park
University and Northern Illinois University after graduation. As fate would have it, he injured his
knee during his junior year in college so Perdure had to defer his dreams of playing in the NFL.
His plans of earning a college education weren’t deferred,
