Visa is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire Fireblocks, a stablecoin infrastructure and custody company, for about $2.5 billion, according to Axios Pro. Founded in 2017, Fireblocks helps companies hold, tokenize and transfer digital assets and has processed roughly $16 trillion in transactions across 2,500 customers. The company was last valued at $8 billion in a 2022 funding round led by D1 Capital Partners and Spark Capital, but denied the acquisition report, saying the claims were not true at present. The potential deal comes as Visa expands its stablecoin offerings for financial institutions, fintechs and crypto companies.
