Vaca Chips, a snack brand producing organic-corn tortilla chips fried in beef tallow, has raised $5.6 million in a funding round led by Barrel Ventures, with participation from Vanterra Ventures, Amberstone, Habitat Partners, Riverpark Ventures, SuperAngel.Fund, and Air Ventures. The company’s second investment round this year also saw existing investor BAM Ventures return alongside several angel investors. Including a previously reported $1.5 million seed round, Vaca Chips has raised at least $7.1 million in disclosed funding, assuming the rounds are separate. The brand has focused on direct-to-consumer sales while expanding into select Whole Foods stores, targeting growth in the better-for-you snack market amid rising interest in beef-tallow-based products.
