Paebbl, a Rotterdam-based decarbonization technology company, recently raised €22.8 million (approximately $24.5 million) in Series A funding led by Capnamic, with participation from The Climate Pledge Fund (Amazon), Holcim, and various industrial family offices, including Aurum Impact, Goldbeck, 2050, Pale Blue Dot, and the Grantham Foundation. Founded by co-CEOs Marta Sjögren (ex-Northzone, investor in Spotify) and Andreas Saari (former CEO of Slush), alongside Jane Walerud (first investor in Klarna) and Dutch mineralization scientist Pol Knops, Paebbl is focused on combating global warming by turning CO2 into carbon-storing materials. In just 18 months, the company progressed from lab tests to a fully functioning pilot unit, producing 250 kg of CO2-storing product daily, and recently reached a milestone of sequestering its first ton of CO2. The new funding will support the expansion of operations, increase production capacity ten-fold to 3 tons per day, and facilitate growth in existing hubs in Helsinki, Rotterdam, and Stockholm, as well as a new hub in the UK.
