Exa, an AI research lab building a search engine for AI systems, has raised $250 million in a Series C round at a $2.2 billion valuation, led by Andreessen Horowitz. CEO Will Bryk said the company’s search API now serves more than 5,000 companies and 400,000 developers, including users like Cursor, Cognition, and HubSpot, as demand grows for high-quality real-time web search for AI agents. Existing backers Benchmark, Lightspeed, and Y Combinator participated in the round, alongside new board member Sarah Wang and other AI leaders joining the investment.
