A16z Backs Horowitz Andreessen Academy With $42 Million Funding In San Francisco

The Horowitz Andreessen Academy is launching in San Francisco as a highly selective school for ambitious young builders after high school or during the first two years of college. Backed by a16z, the Academy is built around hands-on learning, with no traditional grades, tests or homework. Students will pursue personal projects, learn from founders and operators, and gain real-world experience through co-ops with companies including Anduril, Anthropic, Coinbase, Google, Meta, NVIDIA, OpenAI, Palantir, Replit and Stripe. The Academy’s Founding Class Fellowship begins in Fall 2027 and will be tuition-free, with applications now open. The program has raised $42 million, led by a16z.
