What the New Upper West Side Location Brings
Eataly Caffè is continuing its expansion across New York City with a new location planned for 2252 Broadway, at the corner of West 81st Street in the Upper West Side. Signage has been installed at the storefront, with the café expected to open this fall. The space was previously occupied by the Starbucks featured in the 1998 film You've Got Mail, making the location a recognizable destination for both neighborhood residents and movie fans. The transition keeps the corner's long-standing coffee presence alive while introducing an Italian-inspired dining concept.
What Customers Can Expect on the Menu
Unlike Eataly's full marketplace format, Eataly Caffè is designed as a fast-casual concept serving customers throughout the day. The menu will feature espresso beverages made with Eataly's signature 100% Arabica coffee blend sourced from high-altitude farms in Central America, South America, and Ethiopia before being roasted in Italy. Guests can also expect sweet and savory pastries, gelato, Roman-style pizza alla pala, panini, tramezzini, salads, soups, fresh pasta, and a curated retail selection of Eataly's exclusive Icons products. Ordering will be available through the dedicated Eataly Caffè app, allowing customers to place orders ahead of arrival, track them in real time, earn loyalty rewards, and access exclusive seasonal menu items.
What the Expansion Means for New York Retail
The Upper West Side location marks another step in Eataly's steady expansion throughout New York City. The company launched its first Eataly Caffè at Rockefeller Center in May 2025, followed by a second location at Hudson Yards and another on the Upper East Side at 1122 Lexington Avenue. The rollout coincides with Eataly's 15th anniversary in New York City, where the company has operated its flagship Flatiron marketplace since 2010. Adding another neighborhood café strengthens the brand's presence in high-foot-traffic retail corridors while continuing to diversify its dining formats beyond its traditional marketplace model.
