Fast-fashion retailer Shein is preparing for a Hong Kong initial public offering that could raise between $2 billion and $3 billion as early as August, according to Bloomberg News. The company recently received approval from China’s securities regulator, clearing a major hurdle toward its long-awaited public market debut. The final size of the fundraising will depend on investor demand and valuation, with reports suggesting Shein could target a valuation of $40 billion to $50 billion. Founded by Chinese-born entrepreneur Sky Xu in 2012, Shein has pursued several listing options in recent years, with previous attempts in the United States and London ultimately failing to materialize.
