Minerva Humanoids, a San Francisco-based robotics startup, has raised about $10 million in pre-seed funding to develop humanoid robots for dangerous jobs including bomb disposal, offshore oil and gas work, high-voltage power plants, and hazardous-material response. General Catalyst led the round, with Long Journey Ventures and Credo Ventures as co-leads, alongside backers including Hugging Face, Codecademy, RunwayVC, and Compound. The company, led by CEO Sandor Felber, is bringing its semi-autonomous humanoid robot Roger out of stealth and plans to begin its first paid pilots this autumn.
