Lava Payments Secures $5.8 Million Seed Funding From Lerer Hippeau And Others
Lava Payments, a startup founded by Mitchell Jones, has raised $5.8 million in seed funding to power the emerging “agent-native economy” with a new kind of digital wallet. Jones, a Yale graduate and former founder of Lendtable, launched Lava after facing repeated friction while building AI tools that required redundant payments across platforms. Lava offers a single wallet with usage credits that can be spent across various AI services and merchants, enabling AI agents to make seamless, autonomous payments. The round was led by Lerer Hippeau with participation from Harlem Capital, Streamlined Ventures, and Westbound, and the funds will go toward hiring, product development, and market expansion.
