Just Climate Secures $175 Million Investment From Microsoft And CalSTRS For Nature-Based Solutions

Just Climate, a fund founded by Al Gore as part of Generation Investment Management, recently raised $175 million from Microsoft’s Climate Innovation Fund and CalSTRS to invest in nature-based climate solutions. While the firm previously focused on industrial climate solutions, this new fund targets restoring nature to reverse biodiversity loss and reduce emissions from land use. Investments may include biological fertilizers, restoration finance platforms, and carbon verification technologies. Just Climate’s first investment was in NatureMetrics, which uses environmental DNA (eDNA) to assess site biodiversity.
