IXI Raises $36.5 Million In Series A Funding Led By Plural And Amazon Alexa Fund

Finland-based eyewear startup IXI, co-founded by CEO Niko Eiden and chief algorithm officer Ville Miettinen, has raised $36.5 million in funding to develop smart prescription glasses that automatically adjust focus using eye-tracking and liquid crystal lens technology. The round was led by Plural with backing from the Amazon Alexa Fund, Tesi, byFounders, Heartcore, Eurazeo, and others. Drawing on its team’s experience from Nokia and Varjo, IXI aims to simplify vision correction by replacing bifocals and varifocals with seamless, autofocus eyewear — marking its first public step toward commercializing the technology.
