IBM Acquires HashiCorp From Mitchell Hashimoto And Armon Dadgar
IBM has completed its $6.4 billion acquisition of HashiCorp, following regulatory approval from the U.K.'s Competition and Markets Authority and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. The deal, first announced 10 months ago, strengthens IBM’s hybrid cloud strategy by integrating HashiCorp’s infrastructure automation tools, including Terraform. HashiCorp, founded by Mitchell Hashimoto and Armon Dadgar, had shifted Terraform to a proprietary license in 2023, making it a more attractive acquisition target. This move aligns with IBM’s broader cloud and AI ambitions, following major acquisitions like Red Hat ($34B) and Apptio ($4.6B).

Colossal has begun generating revenue through conservation technology sales and technology spinouts, including Astromech, an AI-driven predictive modeling company, and Form Bio, a computational biology platform, expanding its value beyond de-extinction efforts.
