Hapag-Lloyd Acquires ZIM Integrated Shipping Services For $4.2 Billion

Property Image
Hapag-Lloyd has agreed to acquire Israel's ZIM Integrated Shipping Services for $4.2 billion, strengthening its position as the world's fifth-largest container shipping line with a fleet of over 400 vessels. The deal, financed through cash reserves and up to $2.5 billion in external funding, comes after months of strategic review by ZIM and follows employee strikes at its Haifa headquarters. The acquisition is expected to boost Hapag-Lloyd's global market share from 7% to nearly 9% and expand its operations across more than 90 countries and 300 ports worldwide.
