Charter Merges With Cox Communications In $34.5 Billion Deal
Cable companies Charter and Cox have agreed to merge in a deal valuing Cox at $34.5 billion. Charter CEO Chris Winfrey called the merger “good for America,” highlighting job creation and reshoring benefits. Cox Communications, a division of the privately held Cox Enterprises led by Chairman and CEO Alex Taylor, will become the combined company’s name within a year, with Charter’s Winfrey continuing as CEO. The merged company will serve nearly 70 million homes across 46 states, aiming for $500 million in annual cost synergies within three years.
