Burnt, a Y Combinator-backed startup automating back-office food supply chain tasks with AI, has raised $3.8 million in seed funding led by Penny Jar Capital, the venture firm of NBA star Steph Curry, with participation from Scribble Ventures, Formation VC, and angel investors including Dan Scheinman. The company, co-founded and led by CEO Joseph Jacob, aims to modernize the notoriously inefficient workflows in the U.S. food industry by layering AI agents on top of existing systems rather than replacing them. Since launching in January, Burnt has processed over $10 million in monthly orders and is already generating six-figure revenue, with its first agent, Ozai, capable of handling up to 80% of order-entry workflows stuck in legacy systems.
