Mach9, an AI CAD platform focused on civil engineering, has secured $34M in a Series A+ funding round led by First Round Capital, with Bessemer Venture Partners also playing a key role. Additional participation came from Prudence and continued support from Quiet Capital. This funding boosts Mach9's total investment to $49M.

The funds will be utilized to enhance its AI software specifically designed for surveying and civil engineering, addressing the urgent need to upgrade and maintain the aging infrastructure across the United States.

Mach9 is dedicated to augmenting the capacity to construct and support vital infrastructure. Its software transforms 3D scans into engineering-ready CAD drawings, allowing teams to operate up to 10x more efficiently and at a fraction of the usual cost. With its technology, civil engineering and surveying teams can swiftly upload 3D scans of roads, utilities, and construction zones. Mach9’s platform then automates the drafting of essential physical details with remarkable accuracy, streamlining the entire process.

To date, Mach9 has been employed in over 2,500 projects nationwide, surveying more than 100,000 miles of infrastructure. Its clientele includes prominent civil engineering firms like WSP, HNTB, and NV5, as well as various transportation agencies such as Caltrans and Minnesota DOT. For instance, Caltrans is utilizing Mach9 on Interstate 8 in San Diego to assess road safety features, while other clients are leveraging the software to enhance community services, including high-speed internet access in Louisiana.

Co-founder and CEO Alex Baikovitz, along with fellow co-founders Haowen Shi, Michael Mong, and Zach Sussman, launched Mach9 after their experiences at Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute. Their backgrounds include work at reputable organizations such as Tesla and NASA, equipping them with the expertise to tackle infrastructure challenges.

Baikovitz emphasized, "We need to rebuild aging roads and utilities while expanding the power, transportation and communications networks people will rely on for decades to come." Mach9 aims to become an indispensable tool in facilitating the future of civil engineering and infrastructure management.
