X-energy Secures $700 Million In Series D Funding Led By Jane Street For Reactor Development
X-energy, a nuclear startup developing high-temperature, gas-cooled small modular reactors (SMRs), has raised $700 million in a Series D round, bringing its total funding to $1.8 billion. The new capital, led by Jane Street with participation from investors including ARK Invest, Emerson Collective, and Point72, will support building the supply chain for X-energy’s Xe-100 reactors, which have already secured orders for 144 units from customers such as Amazon, Dow, and Centrica. Each reactor generates 80 megawatts using uranium-packed, carbon-coated pebbles heated by helium gas, and the company aims to deploy gigawatts of nuclear capacity in the U.S., positioning itself at the forefront of the growing small modular reactor sector.
