doxx.net, a privacy-focused networking startup, raised $38 million in Series A funding led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Animo Ventures and Focal.vc. Founded and led by CEO Barrett Lyon, the company will use the funding to expand its Agentic Defined Networking platform, which gives people and AI agents private, secure networks.
FUN FACT: In 2003, Barrett Lyon sat with the FBI and watched a DDoS extortion crew take down an online casino in real time. The casino was paying $40,000 a week in protection money. After more than 20 years building and defending networks, he began asking what a network built for the people on it would look like. The ‘first freedom call’: an agent configured the network, set the security policy, and leased the IP addresses. Barrett then called someone over his own private network with no phone company and no central server, so no record of the call was ever created.
