Boom Supersonic Secures $300 Million Funding Round Led By Darsana With $1.5 Billion Valuation
Boom Supersonic, the Centennial-based company developing a supersonic civilian jet, is finalizing a $300 million funding round led by Darsana, with participation from Altimeter, Robinhood Ventures, ARK Invest, Bessemer, and Y Combinator, CEO Blake Scholl said in an email to investors. The raise, which more than doubles the company’s initial target of $150 million, gives Boom a $1.5 billion post-money valuation and will fund scaled production of its Superpower industrial turbines, which in turn support certification and production of its Overture passenger jet. Since its founding in 2014, Boom has raised $600 million and already has preorders for 130 planes, including from United Airlines, American Airlines, and Japan Airlines, with passenger flights expected by the end of the decade.
